There is a very important and useful news for crores of consumers using LPG cylinders across the country. Government and private gas companies have issued new and strict guidelines for transferring LPG connections, refill booking and shifting to Piped Natural Gas (PNG). If you are changing your house in the coming days, shifting to another city or want to get a permanent PNG gas pipeline connection instead of LPG cylinder, then it is very important for you to know these 6 new rules.
Officials and commodity experts have clearly advised to keep all official documents and vouchers received during gas connection transfer or shift to PNG extremely safe. These rules are being strictly enforced by the local gas agencies (Indane, HP Gas, Bharat Gas) so that in future consumers can get uninterrupted LPG cylinder delivery and better services.
1. Before changing house, update will have to be given to the gas agency.
If you are planning to change your current house, first of all you have to give written information to your existing gas agency. According to the new rules, application for connection transfer will have to be made online or offline. For this, customers will have to submit necessary documents like their valid identity card (ID Proof), new address proof (Address Proof), gas passbook or consumer card and original connection voucher.
2. The process is easiest if you shift to the same area.
If your new house comes under the service area of the same gas distributor, then it is a matter of relief for you. In such a situation, the process of gas transfer becomes very easy and fast. As soon as you take the required documents to the distributor, he will update your new address in the system, so that home delivery of LPG cylinder will continue at your new home without any interruption.
3. If there is another area, you will have to take TTV.
If your new residence falls in the service area of another gas agency or distributor, it will be mandatory for you to obtain a Transfer Termination Voucher (TTV) from your existing gas agency. Without this official document your connection will not be transferred. You will have to take this TTV and other necessary documents and submit it to the distributor of the new area, only after which the process will proceed.
4. Rules for shifting to another city or state changed
If you are shifting from one city to another city or state due to job or any other reason, you will have to completely surrender your LPG cylinder and regulator to your existing gas agency. After this the gas agency will issue you a Final Termination Voucher (TV) and will refund your entire security deposit amount deposited at the time of taking the connection. After moving to a new city, a new connection will be issued to you immediately based on the verification of these old documents.
5. You will get a completely new consumer number after transfer.
As soon as you submit your old termination voucher at the new gas agency, that agency will convert your TTV into Transfer Subscription Voucher (TSV). Immediately after this, a new consumer number will be allotted to you by the department. After this you will be able to easily book refill of LPG cylinder at your new address.
6. Conditions for shifting from LPG to PNG connection
PNG connections are being distributed rapidly in the country to strengthen domestic energy distribution. A record more than 13.4 lakh new PNG connections have been given in the last six months, which is about 20% of the larger target of 60 lakh new PNG connections set by the government earlier this year.
If you also want to get rid of the hassle of gas cylinder and shift from LPG to PNG, then first of all meet your local gas distributor and get information about all the necessary terms and conditions. Industry experts say that although there is some relief from the changes in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders, it will be very important for the local distributors to implement these rules properly to make the service transparent for the domestic consumers.
