Mirzapur, 08 March (HS). Amazing scenes were seen at many places during the Shiva procession held in the city on Shivratri. Some were under the influence of cannabis and some were under the influence of Phalgun. On Friday, Shiv Baraat was taken out by Shri Ramlila Committee from Bariaghat and Badi Mata Temple. The atmosphere became devotional when Mahadev came out riding on a chariot accompanied by a band and a musical instrument along with a procession of ghosts, vampires and gods and goddesses. There was a crowd of devotees dancing in front and behind the chariot. The echo of Har-Har Mahadev started being heard everywhere.
The wedding processions came out pretending to be ghosts along with the Gods and Goddesses and kept dancing vigorously throughout the route. Abir-Gulal was played with great enthusiasm in the midst of the wedding procession. In Shivbarat, intoxicated devotees were dancing and singing in front of Thandai. Everyone was colored in the colors of Lord Shiva. Light and sound system based on Holi Khele Mashane Mein was the main attraction of Shivbarat. Mahadev was welcomed at various places with flower showers and aarti. Profit was earned by distributing Prasad on behalf of business and social organizations. After touring the city, the procession returned to the temple late in the evening. Budhenath Baba's Palki Yatra was taken out by Budhenath Seva Samiti. A large number of men and women participated in it. People were chanting Har Har Mahadev. Devotional songs kept playing there. The palanquin procession passed through various routes of the city and ended at Budhenath temple.
Devotees immersed in the fun of Thandai
The identity of this festival has survived the Thandai period on Mahashivratri festival. On Friday, devotees of Bhole were seen immersed in the wave of Thandai. On Mahashivratri, queues were seen in the localities of the city and at all the special Shiva temples since early morning to have darshan and worship of Lord Shankar. After the darshan and worship of Bhole Bhandari, children, old people and women also stood near the temples to get the offerings of Bhang and Thandai. Since morning, after Rudrabhishek, a period of Thandai started going on in every street and every house of the city. On the other hand, a crowd of people was seen at the thandai shop located in Trimohani.
