London News: NIA got success in London in the case of attack on Indian High Commission

The National Investigation Agency on Thursday arrested a person in connection with the attack on the Indian High Commission in London in March last year. The man was detained at Attari border while entering India from Pakistan last year. Official sources said that Inderpal Singh Gaba, a resident of Hounslow, West London, has been booked under Section 13(1) of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), Section 2 and Section 34 of the Defamation of National Honor Act. He was arrested in India on Thursday in connection with an offense under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

What is in the NIA report?

According to a report filed by the NIA after the attack, two major violent demonstrations took place in front of India House in London on March 19 and 22, 2023. On 19 March, a large group of protesters attacked Indian officials, damaged the High Commission building and desecrated the Indian national flag. Reportedly, on 22 March, they raised anti-India slogans, again insulted the Indian national flag and behaved unlawfully and made threats. Sources said that as part of the investigation, several suspects were interrogated and seized after searches were conducted at 31 locations in Punjab and Rajasthan. Sources said the NIA investigation team also visited London.

Lookout circular declared against the accused

LOC (Look Out Circular) was issued against several suspects including Inderpal Singh Gaba. Gaba was detained at Attari border on December 9, 2023 when he entered India from Pakistan. As part of the investigation, his mobile phone was seized and the data was extracted and analyzed. The issue of violent protests in March last year was raised several times in the British Parliament and since then there is Metropolitan Police security outside the Indian High Commission in London.

Help has been sought from the general public

The NIA had released five videos in June last year and sought help from the general public to identify those involved in the violent protests. To gather information related to the case, an NIA team came to London and talked to Scotland Yard officials.
