Justice Loya’s name came up in a special discussion organized on Friday on the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution. After completion of Mahua Moitra’s statement, Nishikant Dubey said that the matter has been judicially ended. They should prove their points. After Dubey’s statement, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also expressed objection to Moitra’s statement and warned of action. Opposition members created ruckus on this. Due to the uproar, the proceedings were first adjourned for half an hour and later till 6.15 pm.
When the proceedings resumed, from the opposition, Trinamool Congress leader Saugata Roy and Congress leader KC Venugopal objected to the statement of Minister Kiren Rijiju. He said that according to the rules of proceedings of the House, another member has the right to object to the remarks of a member, but only the Speaker has the right to take action. He demanded an apology from Minister Kiren Rijiju for threatening the woman member.
After hearing the statements of both, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha asked the members to discuss the topic and avoid making further allegations and counter-allegations. He asked Mahua Moitra to prove her point and said that if anything wrong was found in the minister’s statement, she would be removed from the proceedings.
