Jaipur, March 28 (HS). The Election Commission of India has banned exit polls from 7 am on April 19 to 6.30 pm on June 1. During this period, publication and telecast of exit polls will be prohibited in all Lok Sabha constituencies across the country.
According to the instructions received from the Election Commission of India, there will be a ban on telecast of opinion polls or other poll surveys 48 hours before voting in all election-going states including Rajasthan.
Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta said that as per the notification, there will be a complete ban on conducting exit polls and publishing the exit poll results in newspapers or broadcasting them through electronic media or in any other way. He explained that the display of any election matter including the results of any opinion poll or any other form of poll survey in the electronic media shall be limited to a period of 48 hours ending with the hours fixed for the conclusion of poll in respect of such elections. There will be a ban.
The Election Commission of India, using its powers under sub-section (1) of Section 126A of the Representation of the People Act 1951, has banned the dissemination of any type of exit poll through electronic or print media or in any other way.
