Lok Sabha elections will be held in four phases in Madhya Pradesh, model code of conduct will be effective

Bhopal, March 16 (HS). The dates of Lok Sabha elections 2024 have been announced by the Election Commission of India on Saturday. The election process will be conducted in 4 phases in Madhya Pradesh. Voting for the first phase will be completed on 19th April, for the second phase on 26th April, for the third phase on 7th May and for the fourth phase the voting process will be completed on 13th May. The results of all phases of counting will be declared simultaneously on June 4, 2024.

Giving the above information on Saturday evening, State Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan said that with the announcement of Lok Sabha election dates, the Model Code of Conduct has also become fully effective in the state, which will be strictly followed.

He said that in the first phase in the state, voting will be held in six parliamentary constituencies Sidhi, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat and Chhindwara on April 19, 2024. Notification for the first phase will be released on March 20. Nomination papers will be filed from this day itself. The last date for filing nomination papers is March 27. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on March 28. Candidates will be able to withdraw their names till March 30. Voting will take place on April 19.

In the second phase, voting will be held in seven Lok Sabha constituencies Tikamgarh, Damoh, Khajuraho, Satna, Rewa, Hoshangabad and Betul on 26 April 2024. Notification for this phase will be released on March 28. Nomination papers will be filed from this day itself. The last date for filing nomination papers is April 4. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on April 5. Candidates will be able to withdraw their names till April 8. Voting will take place on April 26.

In the third phase, voting will be held in eight Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Vidisha, Bhopal and Rajgarh on 7 May 2024. Notification for this phase will be released on April 12. Candidates will be able to submit nomination papers till 19th April. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on 20th April. Candidates will be able to withdraw their names till 22 April. Voting will take place on May 7.

Similarly, in the fourth phase, voting will be held in eight Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies Dewas, Ujjain, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Dhar, Indore, Khargone and Khandwa on 13 May 2024. Notification for this phase will be released on April 18. Candidates will be able to submit nomination papers till 25th April. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on 26th April. Candidates will be able to withdraw their names till 29th April. Voting will take place on May 13.

State level media certification and monitoring committee started monitoring

Chief Minister Electoral Officer Rajan said that with the announcement of the Lok Sabha election schedule, the team of public relations officers will keep a 24-hour watch by the State Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (State Level MCMC) to monitor the advertisements and news broadcast on the news channels. Under the Madhya Pradesh Property Defacement Act, instructions have been given to take action within the prescribed limits to remove unauthorized defacement on government/public/private property. Teams have been formed and strict vigil is being maintained on the transportation of illicit liquor, cash and narcotics at interstate checkpoints.

Citizens will be able to complain about violation of code of conduct through C-Vigil app.

2 minute video and photos can be downloaded by the Election Commission of India in the GPS based C-Vigil app. Any citizen will be able to send a complaint to the Commission through the app.

Eligible citizens will still be able to get their names added to the voter list

Rajan said that eligible citizens can still get their names added to the voter list. Applications for adding names to the voter list can be taken from citizens till 10 days before the last date for filing nomination papers. By following the prescribed procedure, eligible citizens will be able to get their names added as voters in the voter list.
