Lok Sabha Elections: Valuables worth Rs 16 crore 05 lakh seized

Dehradun, 16 April (HS). A total of valuables worth Rs 16 crore 05 lakh have been seized in the state under the Election Seizure Management System. Maximum seizure of more than Rs 8 crore has been made in Haridwar district.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande gave this information in a press briefing at the media center located at the Secretariat on Tuesday. During this, he said that from March 16 till now, 05 crore 70 lakh cash, 03 crore 99 lakh, liquor worth 02 crore 93 lakh and gold, silver and other valuables worth 03 crore 26 lakh have been seized under NDPS and Narcotics. Has been.

The maximum amount worth Rs 8 crore 43 lakh has been seized in Haridwar district, Rs 1 crore 83 lakh has been seized in Nainital district and Rs 1 crore 58 lakh has been seized in Dehradun district. Maximum seizures have been made by the Police Department followed by the Income Tax Department and Excise Department. In the Lok Sabha General Election 2019, money worth Rs 8 crore 81 lakh was seized in the state.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer said that today 11 polling parties from Uttarkashi district and one polling party from Pithoragarh district have left for the polling place. All these polling parties have made available the information about registration proceedings and departure on the Poll Day Monitoring System (PDMS) portal.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer said that in view of the voting to be held in the state on April 19, the Meteorological Department has provided weather forecast. The weather will be clear on 17th April. There is a possibility of light drizzle in Uttarkashi and Pithoragarh districts on April 18. There is a possibility of light rain in Pithoragarh, Pauri and Nainital districts on April 19. The weather is expected to remain clear in all the remaining districts. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be no effect of heat web in the state, the weather will remain at normal temperature.
