In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the turnout in 11 states of the country including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan was less than the national average, keeping in mind that the Election Commission is emphasizing on increasing the voting percentage in this election. Recently, the Election Commission also held a meeting with state election officials in New Delhi, in which the Commission shared a report saying that the turnout in 11 states/UTs in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections was below the national average. The average voting in the country in that election was 67.40 percent. Voting percentage was low in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi NCR, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand.
