Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Voters boycotted the elections, Election Commission suspended 26 officials

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The second phase of voting has been completed in East Tripura parliamentary constituency and till the last report the total voting in the state is 79.66 percent. Voting took place at 1,664 polling stations in East Tripura parliamentary constituency till 8 pm. According to Chief Electoral Officer Punit Aggarwal, EVMs will be inspected on Saturday. This will help election officials know the final voting percentage, which is expected to increase.

Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura said that voting in East Tripura was peaceful and thanked the voters who came to vote at the polling stations. He said that the final voting in East Tripura parliamentary constituency till 8 pm was 80.32 percent, I would like to thank all the voters who came to vote at the polling stations. Voting has been completed at 1,664 polling stations in East Tripura parliamentary constituency.

Waters boycotted the election

Voters boycotted the elections in some areas, about which Aggarwal said, 'At two polling stations people boycotted the elections due to their grievances. He was concerned about the poor condition of roads and lack of development in his area. This is the reason why he boycotted the elections. When the Election Commission came to know about the complaint of the local people, the local area officials tried to convince them but we also have to respect their decision.

26 officers were suspended

Regarding the total number of voters who did not cast their vote at those particular polling stations, he said, 'There are two polling stations registered as 41/3 Natonglal Para JB School and 44/5 Sandaimohan Para JB School. The total number of eligible voters for those polling stations was recorded at 649 and 1,059 respectively and where 41/3 votes were cast, while in others only 12 voters turned up to exercise their franchise.'

Regarding redressal of complaints, a senior election official said, 'A total of 92 complaints have been received and all have been resolved. During this period, 26 election officials have been suspended for violating the code of conduct.
