Delhi Maiti Coordination Committee has demanded postponement of Lok Sabha elections in Manipur. DMCC includes several MET organizations
These organizations have written letters to the Election Commission and Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud demanding postponement of the Lok Sabha elections due to the ongoing caste violence in Manipur.
Voting will be held in Manipur's two parliamentary seats, Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur, on April 19 and 26. DMCC is concerned about the security in these areas.
The petition given by Delhi Maiti Coordination Committee has expressed concern citing several media reports on unrest and law and order in Manipur.
The Delhi Meitei Coordination Committee, which includes organizations like Delhi Meitei, Likalam Nagakpa, Iramdam Manipur and International Meitei, has been continuously criticizing the government over caste violence since May 3, 2023. According to these organizations, the violence in Manipur has caused psychological, economic and political loss to the people there.
