Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The Election Commission of India has announced election guidelines for candidates and political parties contesting the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. These guidelines are about do's and don'ts during elections, which should be followed till the completion of the election process.
Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Aggarwal gave this information. He said public places like grounds and helipads should be freely available to all parties and contesting candidates.
Criticism of other political parties and candidates during Lok Sabha elections should be limited to their policies, programmes, past records and actions.
Furthermore, the right of every individual to a peaceful and undisturbed domestic life must be fully protected. The local police authorities should be fully informed and necessary permission should be obtained in time regarding the time and place of the proposed meeting.
Anurag Aggarwal said that if any prohibitory order or restrictive order is in force at the proposed meeting venue, then those orders should be respected. Similarly, permission should be obtained for the use of loudspeakers or any other such facility for the proposed meetings and police assistance should be taken to deal with persons creating disruption or disorder in the meeting.
He said that the time, place and route of starting and ending any procession should be decided in advance and prior permission should be taken from the police authorities. Traffic should not be disrupted on the road show and rally route.
All election officials will have to cooperate to ensure peaceful and orderly voting. The Chief Electoral Officer said that all the returning officers should cooperate for peaceful and orderly voting. Apart from this, all the political workers taking part in the elections will have to show Aadhaar or identity card.
