Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Before voting during the Lok Sabha General Elections 2024 and Assembly by-elections, the voter will have to establish his identity by presenting Voter Photo Identity Card-EPIC. Apart from EPIC, 12 other documents have been approved by the Election Commission of India for voting.
Voting will be held on May 7, 2024 for the general elections of 26 Lok Sabha seats and by-elections of 05 assembly seats in the state. As per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, Voter Photo Identity Card-EPIC will have to be presented for voter identification on the day of polling. Election Commission of India has approved 12 other documents in place of Voter Photo Identity Card-EPIC, which can be presented and voted.
These documents include Aadhar Card, Job Card issued under MNREGA, Passbook with photo issued by Bank/Post Office, Health Insurance Smart Card issued under Labor Ministry Scheme, Driving License, PAN Card, RGI Smart Card issued under NPR, Indian Passport. . Pension documents with photo, Service Identity Cards with photo issued to employees by Central/State Government/Public Sector Undertakings/Public Limited Companies, Government Identity Cards issued to MPs/Members of the Legislative Assembly/Legislative Council and Social Justice of the Government of India and Unique includes Disability ID (UDID) card issued by the Ministry of Empowerment, which can be presented and voted. Additionally, if NRIs are registered as voters, they will have to produce their original passport at the polling booth, establishing their identity.
