Difficulties are increasing for BJP in Maharashtra. While the strength of Bharat Alliance can show the way out to BJP, now there is news that BJP is going to take lead from Raj Thackeray.
It has been almost two decades since Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray emerged from the political shadow of his uncle Bal Thackeray, but except once he has never been able to show his special political strength.
However, the way he has come to Delhi with his son and met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and there is speculation about his party joining NDA or Mahayuti, the question arises whether BJP will get 2.25% in Maharashtra. Will MNS be beneficial? Vote share?
Raj Thackeray's party contested 101 seats in the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections and lost its deposits on 86. The party managed to win only 1 seat and received 2.25% of the votes.
In Maharashtra, there is a grand alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena (Chief Minister Eknath Shinde) and NCP (Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar). The distribution of 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state has not yet been done among these parties. However, if BJP talks to Raj Thackeray then his political secret can be understood.
Even in Bihar, BJP was facing difficulty in finalizing seats. The party relied on Chirag Paswan's LJP (Ram Vilas) with one MP and his uncle Pashupati Paras' Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party with 5 MPs, but not a single seat.
The reason for this was that despite being an MP from Paras, Paswan's vote bank is considered to be with Chirag. A completely opposite situation is being seen against the Bharatiya Janata Party in Maharashtra.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's party Shiv Sena has already got its name and election symbol. Most of the MPs and MLAs are also supporting him. But no one can say with certainty that the votes received in Thackeray's name also came with him.
Many experts who have a grip on Maharashtra politics believe that a large section of Shiv Sainiks still looks at Uddhav Thackeray with sympathy. Raj Thackeray can be useful for BJP in removing that sympathy. This is why BJP is talking.
