Story of Dulla Bhatti on Lohri
According to another legend, a poor Brahmin had two very beautiful daughters named Sundari and Mundari, who were betrothed. These girls came into the notice of the ruler of that time and that ruler started keeping an evil eye on both the sisters. Dulle Bhatti promised to get the girls married. The girls’ father-in-law was afraid of the rulers and asked them to get married at night. Dulle Bhatti collected jaggery, sugar, firewood, grains as donations from the nearby village. People gathered at the wedding of Sundari and Mundri. Dulle Bhatti married the girls with his own hands and poured lots of sugar. From that day onwards the custom of celebrating Lohri started in the same way.

On the day of Lohri, small children go from house to house singing a song which is as follows-
Beautiful rings, ho! Who cares about you, yes!
Dulla Bhatti wala, ho! Daughter-in-law is married, yes!
Ser Sugar Pie, Ho! The girl’s brother-in-law got fucked, yes!
Long live the girl’s uncle…
