Kolkata, 23 October (Hindustan Reporter). In view of the threat of cyclone 'Dana' in the Bay of Bengal, Railways in West Bengal has taken several major steps for security. Great precautions are being taken, especially in coastal areas, to ensure the safety of railways and passengers.
According to railway sources, no local train will run from Sealdah station of Eastern Railway after 8 pm on Thursday night. Similarly, no train will leave for Sealdah from Hasnabad, Namkhana station. These guidelines will be applicable from 8 pm on Thursday to 10 am on Friday.
Cyclone 'Dana' may hit between Puri and Sagar Island late Thursday night or Friday morning. In view of this, all trains going to Puri have been canceled in view of security. Almost all trains running in South India are likely to be affected.
According to railway sources, a total of 85 long distance trains from Howrah, Shalimar and Santragachi have been cancelled, while 93 trains coming from the down line have also been cancelled. These canceled trains include several superfast expresses, whose operation has been suspended for the time being.
