Jaipur, 16 May (HS). 'You fly and become free, the sky is yours, you remain happy in your fun, but before that, learn to open your wings properly, dance, sing, act, write and speak to your tune.' With these sentiments, Junior Summer Program (Camp) was started from Thursday at Jawahar Kala Kendra to decorate the canvas of innocent minds of young artists with creative colors. Principal Secretary of the Art and Culture Department and Director General of Jawahar Kala Kendra, Gayatri Rathod inaugurated the camp. By painting on canvas, he gave the message to the children to keep shining like the sun. During this period, the Centre's Director General Priyanka Jodhawat, other administrative officers, all the trainers, participants and their families were present.
Eager to hone their skills, children started gathering at JKK in the morning. There was a children's meeting in the middle. Here the children were introduced to trainers of every discipline. Someone tickled the children by telling interesting stories, someone played a tune on the violin, someone engaged them with poetry and someone told about theatre. There are 16 courses including theatre, singing, guitar, tabla, piano, violin, folk dance, Kathak, mobile film making, photography, mosaic art, art of expression, contemporary dance, calligraphy (Devanagari-English) and creative writing, puppet making and operation. Training in various disciplines is being imparted. More than 500 children aged 8 to 17 years are participating in the camp. The camp will continue till June 20, at the end of which there will also be a stage presentation by the participants.
Gayatri Rathod said that there is a lot of curiosity among the children about the summer camp. This shows his interest towards art and the centre. This is how children are making the best use of summer vacation. By staying away from mobile and laptop screens, children will follow their passion and develop their personality by gaining practical knowledge. This time, different disciplines like piano, violin, contemporary dance, mobile film making, mosaic art, creative writing have also been added.
Priyanka Jodhawat said that the center provides training and performance opportunities to artists in theatre, literature, music and visual arts. Future artists are being prepared in Junior Summer Camp. After this, a plan for weekly workshops will be worked out so that children can become familiar with the four dimensions of art through experts.
