The Indian passport is also continuously getting stronger and has made a high jump in the latest ranking.
India made a leap in the ranking
The Passport Index published by London-based Henley & Partners ranks the world's passports based on how many countries their holder gets visa-free entry to. For each visa-free entry, a passport is given a point, based on which a global ranking is prepared. India's passport has risen by 2 points to reach 82nd position in 2024. According to the Henley Passport Index, Indian passport holders can now enjoy visa-free entry to 58 countries. India's global ranking in 2023 was 84th.
What is the ranking of Indian passport?
The Indian passport, which allows Indians visa-free entry to 58 countries, has been ranked 82nd in the latest rankings released by the Henley Passport Index. The ranking is based on data from the International Air Transport Association, which maintains the most comprehensive and accurate database of travel information worldwide. Currently, India ranks at par with countries like Senegal and Tajikistan.
Where is Pakistan?
Pakistan has secured 100th place in the global ranking for the year 2024. Only 33 countries allow visa-free entry on Pakistani passports. But their passport has jumped 6 points compared to last year. In the year 2023, Pakistan's passport was ranked 106th in the world. As of 2023, Pakistani passports offer visa-free entry to only 32 countries.
Singapore's most powerful passport
Singapore has retained the crown of the world's most powerful passport this year as well. According to the 2024 Index, Singapore passport holders enjoy visa-free access to 195 countries, making it the world's most powerful passport. What did the Chairman of Henley & Partners say?
Christian Calin, chairman of Henley & Partners, highlighted the growing global mobility gap between countries. “From 2006 to 2024, the average number of destinations offering visa-free entry to tourists has almost doubled, from 58 to 111,” said Christian Calin. But the gap in global mobility between countries at the top and bottom of the index is now wider than ever.
