A unique case of liquor smuggling has come to light in Araria, Bihar. Here liquor worth about Rs 50 lakh was being transported in a transformer, which has been confiscated by the police. The police were also surprised to see liquor inside this transformer kept in a mini truck in Char Road area of Narpatganj.
Police have arrested two accused
In Araria, the police busted such a scheme of liquor smuggling that the onlookers were stunned. The smugglers had filled liquor inside the transformer. When the police stopped the truck on Narpatganj 4 Road, the officers were surprised to see liquor worth Rs 50 lakh hidden inside the transformer. Two accused from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand involved in smuggling have been arrested, they are currently being interrogated.
This liquor was taken to Darbhanga from Arunachal Pradesh.
Police said that the liquor was being taken from Arunachal Pradesh to Darbhanga, which the smugglers were hiding in a transformer and entering Bihar. Giving information, Araria SP Amit Ranjan said that the arrested smugglers include Nadeem of Uttar Pradesh and Farman Ali of Uttarakhand. The police have taken both the accused into custody and started interrogation.
About 10 thousand liters of foreign liquor was seized in 15 days
According to the SP, Araria Police has continuously seized consignments of liquor in the last few weeks. In just 15 days, the police have seized around 10,000 liters of foreign liquor, said to be mainly made in Arunachal Pradesh.
