Kanpur: Liquor shop in Kanpur is going to be closed because of five year old child. Actually, there is a ban on renovation of liquor shops next to schools in Kanpur. A student of LKG school approached Allahabad High Court in this matter.
After hearing the petition, Allahabad High Court said in its order that if there is already a liquor shop next to the school then it is not necessary to extend its license every year.
The court has banned extending the license of the liquor shop next to Seth MR Jaipuria School in Azad Nagar, Kanpur beyond March 25.
A division bench of Chief Justice Arun Bhansali and Justice Vikas passed the order on Wednesday while hearing a PIL filed by 5-year-old student Master Atharva. An LKG student, through his father, filed a PIL seeking removal of the liquor shop located 20 feet away from the school.
As per rules the school does not get contract license
According to the information, this case is from Azad Nagar area located near the zoo of Kanpur city. Five-year-old Atharva Dixit is a LKG student at Sheth MR Jaipuria School in Azad Nagar area. There is a liquor shop just 20 meters away from the school. As per rules, license of liquor shop cannot be given near the school. The petitioner says that there is often a gathering of drunkards here between 6 and 7 in the morning. Drunk people create ruckus here. There is also a residential area near the school, where hundreds of people live.
Many families also complained
Many members of the family complained several times to the officials and government of Kanpur, but no action was taken. It was argued in the case that the school opened in 2019, whereas the liquor contract is about 30 years old. On this, Atharva's family filed a public interest litigation in his name in Allahabad High Court.
