Like Delhi, Kolkata Metro mobile app also got popularity, millions of people downloaded it

Kolkata, 8 April (HS). Kolkata Metro's mobile app has been downloaded by more than four lakh people on their smartphones. Metro Railway spokesperson Kaushik Mitra said that the app 'Metro Ride Kolkata' has been developed by the Center for Railway Information System (CRIS). “This app was developed with the idea to enable metro passengers to recharge their smart cards or book QR code-based tickets from anywhere and anytime,” he said.

Mitra said that the 'Metro Ride Kolkata' app was made available on Android platform on March 5, 2022 and on iOS platform on March 22, 2024. He said, “As of April 6, about 4.46 lakh Android users downloaded this app from 'Google Play Store' and 1,400 iOS users from 'Apple Store'. These figures reflect the acceptability and popularity of this app among metro users. He said that the mobile application of Delhi Metro is the most popular and the same is now happening in Kolkata also.
