Chhatarpur, June 17 (HS). The weather became pleasant due to light rain on Monday evening in most areas of the district including the district headquarters. After bright sunshine since morning, cold winds kept blowing for a long time in the afternoon and after this it rained for about half an hour from around 3:30 pm, due to which the temperature dropped. Since it became cold after the rain, people got relief from the scorching heat and humidity. This kind of weather is likely to continue till June 20. Relief has been felt with the arrival of pre-monsoon, on the other hand, due to the slowing down of the speed of monsoon, the monsoon is likely to arrive by June 22.
At many places, small children enjoyed bathing in the rain, while at many places the roads were muddy due to overflowing of drains. Electricity supply was also disrupted at the district headquarters during the rain. Apart from this, there have also been reports of trees falling down at many places due to strong winds. The Meteorological Department has predicted similar rain with thunder and lightning for the next three days. The department has informed that this year the monsoon will enter the state between 20 and 22 June.
Light rain exposed the cleanliness drive
There was light rain in Harpalpur of the district on Monday afternoon, which exposed the cleanliness drive of the Municipal Council. In fact, after about half an hour of rain, dirty water from the drains started flowing on the roads, while the municipal administration is claiming to get the drains cleaned every week. Similar conditions were also seen in the old Galla Mandi of the city where the drains are clogged due to garbage.
The tree outside the police station collapsed, vehicles got damaged
Due to the strong winds before the rain at the district headquarters, a huge jamun tree planted outside the Kotwali police station collapsed. Due to the falling of the tree, a sub-inspector's car and some other vehicles were damaged, and an electric pole along with the cable also fell after being hit by the tree. Fortunately, no one was hit by the tree and the pole because many handcart operators had set up shops nearby.
