Bhopal, 15 August (HS). After the martyrdom of her husband who was a soldier, she composed herself and then after joining the army as a lieutenant, she is guarding the country in the most difficult place, Leh valley.

Many families have been seen breaking down after the martyrdom of their husbands, but the spirit of Lieutenant Rekha Singh is rarely seen. We have read the stories of Jhansi's Rani Lakshmi Bai, Rani Durgavati, Ahilya Bai in history, one such daughter is Rekha Singh of Umaria district who did not give up after her husband was martyred and today she is posted as a lieutenant in the Indian Army.

The story of Rekha Singh, a resident of Dhamokhar, a small village in Manpur Janpad Panchayat of Umaria district, is no less than these. Rekha Singh was born in Dhamokhar village of Umaria district. Her father Shivraj Singh was a teacher by profession. He has 6 daughters. Her mother Usha Singh and father together taught the daughters the lesson of education, culture and discipline. Rekha Singh is the fourth daughter among these daughters. After receiving her primary education from Manpur Saraswati School, she went to Bhopal for graduation. From here, she did her MSc in Physics from Barkatulla Vishwavidyalaya and then B.Ed. and became a guest teacher in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. On 30 November 2019, her father married Rekha with great pomp to Deepak Singh, a resident of Fareda village in Rewa district. Who was posted as a Naik in the army, had the passion to do something for the country, but just 5 months after marriage, 20 Indian Army soldiers were martyred in a violent clash between the Indian Army and the Chinese People's Liberation Army in the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh in the year 2020, in which Deepak Singh was martyred on 15 June 2020. Naik Deepak Singh of the 16th Battalion of the Bihar Regiment was awarded the Vir Chakra posthumously in the year 2021 for the bravery shown during this period.

Rekha Singh's father Shivraj Bahadur Singh said that I have 6 daughters out of which 4 daughters are in government service, 2 daughters could not join the service. Rekha Singh is my fourth daughter, she had her primary education in Saraswati Vidyalaya in Manpur from class 1 to 12, after that she did BSc from Barkatullah University Bhopal, then after doing MSc Physics, did B.Ed and got B and C certificate of NCC, after that she became a guest teacher in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, then she got married to Deepak Singh, a resident of village Fareda in Rewa district on 30 November 2019. After marriage, on 15 June 2020, her husband was martyred in Galvan Valley. Deepak Singh received the Veer Chakra posthumously in the year 2021. After her husband was martyred, she was selected for the post of secondary teacher by the Madhya Pradesh government under special circumstances. She was given compassionate appointment but since then the spirit of patriotism filled her mind and she joined the military service. After appearing for SSB twice, she got commissioned as a lieutenant in 2023 by the Sangh Sainik Commission in the second attempt. After taking training in Chennai, she has been posted from 29 April. After her husband was martyred, that place was on her mind, so she tried and got posted in Galwan. Although another place is given in the provision, but she took the same place. Now she is serving in Leh.

Rekha Singh's mother Usha Singh says that Rekha was the most intelligent, talented and calm among all the 6 daughters. It was her habit to keep all the sisters together and to help her mother in her work along with studies. After being selected for a high post in the army, when she comes on leave, she does all the work from cleaning the house to cooking food herself. All the 6 sisters Vandana, Puja, Sandhya, Rekha, Pratiksha, Monika are in government service after higher education.

It is noteworthy that Rekha Singh, wife of Naik Deepak Singh, who was martyred in 1986, joined the Indian Army on Saturday. Rekha Singh is among the 40 women who participated in the pass out parade of the Officers Training Academy in Chennai.

Rekha Singh was inducted into the Indian Army as a Lieutenant after completing her training from the Officers Training Academy. Her family members were also present during this time.
