Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister condemn the killing of a non-local laborer in Shopian district

Srinagar, 19 October (Hindustan Reporter). Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday condemned the killing of a non-local laborer in Shopian district. He said the security forces are determined to arrest the culprits and bring them to justice.

The Lieutenant Governor said through X that I strongly condemn the brutal murder of a vendor Ashok Chauhan by cowardly terrorists in Shopian. The entire country is standing shoulder to shoulder with his family. Our security forces are determined to arrest the criminals and bring them to justice. Sinha said that his thoughts are with Chauhan's family members and friends in this hour of grief.

He said that I have instructed Jammu and Kashmir Police and the district administration to provide all possible assistance. The body of the laborer was found in a field in Wachi area of ​​Jainapora in South Kashmir district on Friday. There were marks of two bullets on it.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and political parties of the valley have also condemned the murder. Omar Abdullah said through X that he was deeply saddened to hear about the death of Ashok Chauhan at the hands of terrorists in South Kashmir. These attacks are despicable and should be strongly condemned. I express my condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra condemned the murder, calling it most unfortunate and shocking. JKPCC chief said that I am disappointed and saddened to know about the killing of Ashok Chauhan by terrorists in South Kashmir. Killings in any form are highly condemnable and unacceptable. In the larger interest of public safety and peace, such incidents should be stopped. Karra expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for strength to bear this irreparable loss.

BJP's Kashmir unit strongly condemned the heinous and cowardly act of terrorism, saying the killing of an innocent man earning his livelihood reflects the desperation of terrorists to create fear and disrupt peace in the valley. The party's Kashmir media in-charge Sajid Yusuf Shah expressed deep sorrow and anger over this brutal incident.

He said that the brutal murder of Ashok Chauhan is a cowardly act aimed at destabilizing the harmony in Jammu and Kashmir. We stand with the victim's family in this tragic time. These terrorists will not succeed in their nefarious plans. Reiterating BJP's unwavering commitment to restore peace and normalcy in Kashmir, he said such actions will further strengthen our resolve to root out terrorism from our soil.

He said that the security forces will ensure that the culprits of this heinous crime are brought to justice.
