LG wrote a letter to the Chief Minister on not presenting the budget

New Delhi, 24 February (HS). The budget session of Delhi Assembly began on February 15 with the address of Lieutenant Governor (LG) Vinay Kumar Saxena. But the budget has not been presented yet, on which LG has expressed displeasure. On Saturday, he wrote a three-page letter to Chief Minister Kejriwal asking why the government is delaying in presenting the budget. Whereas the budget prepared by the government has also received approval from the President.

Only after the LG's address during the budget session on February 15, Delhi Finance Minister Atishi had told the House that the budget has just been amended, it has been sent to the LG, from there it will be sent to the Home Ministry. The government will present the budget when it gets approval from the central government. Therefore, the duration of the assembly session should be extended.

After listening to this argument, the Speaker of the Assembly extended the duration of the session, but how long this session will continue is not yet decided. From then till Friday the proceedings of the House lasted only for a few hours. There was no discussion regarding the budget.

Recently, when Minister Atishi gave this statement that the budget has not yet been approved by the LG. LG expressed objection to this also. In the letter, he wrote that the budget of Delhi government has even been approved by the President. That too, this approval was received on 19th February itself. There is no justification for not presenting the budget till now.

LG has directed the Chief Minister through a letter to present the budget of Delhi as soon as possible. The people of Delhi have every right to know what kind of budget the government has prepared. What is there for them in this budget?

It is noteworthy that the budget of Delhi Assembly was called from 15th February to 21st February only and during the same period the Delhi Government was asked to present the budget, but till now it is not clear from the government side that the Finance Minister of Delhi will When will she present her budget in the Assembly? This time Delhi government can present a budget of Rs 80 thousand crore, which will be a record till now.
