Letter to CJI: 21 former judges wrote a letter to CJI, expressed concern about the judiciary

On one hand, Lok Sabha elections are near and on the other hand, a war of words is going on between the opposition and the ruling party regarding the action being taken by the Central Government in the corruption case. Of these, 21 retired judges have once again written a letter to the CJI.

A letter written by 21 retired judges

21 retired judges of the Supreme Court and High Court have written a letter to the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud. The letter expresses concern over efforts to weaken the judiciary. Those who wrote the letter include 17 former judges of the High Court and four former judges of the Supreme Court.

What was written in the letter?

The letter highlights growing efforts by some groups to weaken the judiciary through deliberate pressure, misinformation and public humiliation. The letter said that people doing this are trying to weaken the judiciary and reduce public confidence in the judiciary for narrow political interests and personal gains.
