A letter was sent to the PMO demanding to connect Raxaul in the district and the adjoining Virganj city of Nepal with the Ramayana Circuit like Sitamarhi, Janakpur, Valmikinagar and Ayodhya. So that these two cities can be developed as world class religious tourist destinations.
Raxaul resident educationist Prof. Dr. Swayambhu Shalabh has sent a letter to this effect to the PMO. Dr. Shalabh told Hindusthan Samachar that after receiving the letter, on the instructions of the PMO, the Union Tourism Ministry has sent its proposal to the Swadesh Darshan Division and the Tourism Department of the Government of Bihar for necessary action. In this context, Neeraj Sharan, Assistant Director of the Union Tourism Ministry. It has been said that the state government also has a major responsibility in the development of tourism.
Dr. Shalabh has said in the letter sent to the PMO that the twin cities of Raxaul and Veerganj situated on the India-Nepal border have special importance from cultural, geographical and historical point of view. There is a need to take initiative by the Central Government in this direction so that both these cities become world class religious cultural centers by joining the Ramayana Circuit. It is said that Nepal's economic capital Birgunj and Indian city Raxaul have immense potential for industry, trade and tourism.
Tourists coming to India from different countries via Nepal first come to this Raxaul-Virganj border to see India. The main road connecting Delhi and Kathmandu passes through the Raxaul-Virganj border. There is a need to develop the possibilities of this border area by connecting these two cities located at the main gate of Nepal with the Ramayana Circuit. On the fundamental reasons for connecting with the Ramayana Circuit, he has said that Punaura Dham, the birthplace of Mother Sita, is situated at a distance of only 80 km from Raxaul in Sitamarhi (Bihar). After the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, there is public desire that a grand temple of Mata Sita should also be built in Sitamarhi. Mother Sita's maternal house Janakpurdham (Nepal) is also at a distance of 160 km from here.
In this context, Maharishi Valmiki's ashram located in Valmikinagar is situated at a distance of 160 km from Raxaul. It was here that Luv Kush was born. Maharishi Valmiki also composed “Ramayana” here. Sitamarhi, Janakpur Dham, Valmikinagar and Ayodhya, all these places have importance in the life of Mother Sita. Whose road and rail route goes through Raxaul.
