Leopard entered the house in Meerut, rescued after five hours


Meerut, 13 April (HS). The incidents of leopard coming into urban areas are increasing. A leopard entered a house in Kaserukheda of Lalkurti police station area in Meerut on Saturday. As soon as they saw the leopard, the people present in the house locked themselves in the room. The family remained confined in the room for about five hours. The forest department and police tranquilized and caught the leopard in the evening.

Leopard entered Kaserukheda today. People saw the leopard in the mosque street and after this the leopard entered Lalit's house in the area. Lalit, his mother Sushila, wife Manju and two children Minku (8) and Veera (10) were in the house. Seeing the leopard, he locked the room from inside. The leopard sat in the verandah just outside the room. On information, the forest department team and Lalkurti police reached the spot. Forest Department employees closed the house by placing a net around it. While setting the trap, the leopard injured a young man named Angad with its paw. Despite the efforts of the people and the forest department, the leopard did not come out of the house.

During this time, an attempt was made to catch the leopard by putting a cock in the house, but the leopard did not get trapped in the trap. Seeing the matter escalating, the family was taken out by breaking the wall behind the house. The family remained locked in the room for about five hours. After this, preparations were made to tranquilize the leopard. A cage was also installed to catch the leopard. Even after this the leopard did not get trapped in the net. After a lot of efforts, the forest department team tranquilized the leopard in the evening. After this, the leopard was locked in a cage and taken away by the forest department team. After this people heaved a sigh of relief. According to the forest department, the leopard will be released into the forest.
