Mirzapur, March 01 (Hindustan Reporter) Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Friday that by the end of this year, the road infrastructure of Uttar Pradesh will be at par with America. He told that till 2014 there were 7643 kilometers of national highways in Uttar Pradesh. In the last 10 years it has increased to 13 thousand kilometers. At present, road construction work worth Rs 2 lakh crore is going on in Uttar Pradesh. There is also green field work in this. Seven kilometers of road is being constructed every day.
Gadkari laid the foundation stone of the four-lane road from Vindhyachal Dham to Ayodhya Dham during a program organized at the Polytechnic College campus at Bathua in Mirzapur district. With the construction of a four-lane road, Ayodhya can be reached in three hours from Mirzapur via Jaunpur and Akbarpur. In this, work has started at many places. Will start on others.
Gadkari also laid the foundation stone of a 15 km long six-lane bridge next to the Shastri Bridge, which is called the lifeline of Mirzapur. Rs 1750 crore will be spent on this project. He said that laying the network of roads in Purvanchal will not only increase connectivity on Aastha Path but will also open doors to employment.
The Union Minister also announced four-laning of Mirzapur-Prayagraj Highway at a cost of Rs 1500 crore. Also announced the construction of a four-lane road from Koraon in Prayagraj to the highly backward tribal dominated Halia of Mirzapur at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore. Gadkari said that work on this will start by June. Apart from this, it was announced to build an overbridge at Madho Singh on the Varanasi-Vindhyachal road at a cost of Rs 100 crore. Due to railway crossing at Madho Singh, one has to face jam on Varanasi-Vindhyachal road. In such a situation, construction of overbridge will not only make the journey between Kashi-Vindhyachal-Prayagraj-Ayodhya easier, but money will also be saved over time. With the promotion of tourism, the concept of religious tourism will also be realized.
Local MP and Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel welcomed Gadkari. The MPs were elated with the announcement and foundation stone laying of roads worth about Rs 5,000 crore in their parliamentary constituency. State Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh was also present in the program.
