BSNL users waiting for 4G are going to get the gift of 5G service soon. Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has made a big announcement regarding the launch date of 5G service of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited. During a program organized on Monday, October 14, the Union Minister said that preparations for BSNL 5G service have been completed. The government telecom company is installing thousands of mobile towers across the country to upgrade the network.
5G service will start soon
Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the company can launch 5G network by June 2025 next year. India is following the world in 4G, catching up with the world in 5G and will lead the world in 6G technology, he said at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum ITUWTSA.
The Telecom Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very clear that the government company will not use anyone else's equipment. “We now have a core and radio access network that is fully operational,” Scindia said. We plan to have one lakh sites by April-May next year. We have launched 38,300 sites as of yesterday.
He further said, “We are going to launch our own 4G network, which will convert to 5G by June 2025. We will be the sixth country in the world to do so.” Government company BSNL is using 4G technology developed in collaboration with C-DOT and local IT company TCS. Scindia said that India implemented the world's fastest 5G technology by installing 4.5 lakh towers in 22 months and this service is available to 80 percent of the country's population.
1 lakh towers will be installed
BSNL plans to install 1 lakh new towers for 4G/5G services, out of which the target is to install 75 thousand towers by the end of this year. In this year's budget, the central government has allocated a budget of thousands of crores of rupees to revive the government-owned telecom company BSNL.
