Mumbai: Advocate Bhupendrakumar Bhardwaj, who bought the property of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim in an auction in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra, has received a threat.
According to Bhardwaj's complaint given to the police, after purchasing Dawood's property in the auction, he wanted to perform some religious rituals here. However, local villagers are stopping them from doing so and are threatening them. In this case, Bhardwaj has also given the names of some villagers to the police. Bhardwaj has registered a case against some villagers under various sections including theft, encroachment and criminal intimidation.
According to Bhardwaj, on 23 February 2024, he along with his colleague Niranjan Ramdas planted a tree on this land and performed puja under it. Along with this, some religious rituals were also organized here which continued till 9 pm. However, the very next day, some villagers reached there and created a ruckus. It is alleged that the villagers stole all the goods from here.
Bhardwaj alleged that the local police was initially unwilling to register an FIR. Although the police registered an FIR after several attempts and despite the request of lawyer Bhardwaj, section 295A of IPC was not added to the FIR. This section refers to a deliberate malicious act which hurts a particular class, religion or their religious sentiments. Mention of this was avoided.
Bhardwaj had purchased this land some time ago on the basis of reserve price under the auction of Dawood's property. They want to open an anti-terrorism national front on this earth. In 2020, six properties of Daw Ibrahim were auctioned. The assets in the name of Dawood's mother Aminabi and sister Haseena Parkar were confiscated by the agencies under the Saffa Act.
