Launched professional development initiative for teachers through 'The Teacher App'

Jammu, 14 May (HIST). Bharti Airtel Foundation in collaboration with Directorate of School Education, Jammu on Tuesday launched a new technology initiative through 'The Teacher App' at Shikshak Bhawan, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The three-month program running from May 14 to July 19 aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of teachers in Jammu regarding foundational literacy and numeracy, teaching techniques and teaching learning materials.

The program will involve targeted sessions led by industry experts, engaging more than 10,000 teachers from various schools of Jammu division through interactive activities. These sessions will focus on 'Teaching Skills', 'Understanding Foundational Learning and Emerging Trends in Education' and 'Resonance with Current Educational Philosophy and Best Practices'.

On Tuesday, teachers personally participated in the inaugural session through webinar on 'The Teacher App' along with 500 teachers and cluster heads of Jammu division. Cluster heads will also undergo a three-month program through 'The Teacher App' to enable them to implement education at the grassroots level. In this inaugural session, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Director, Subha Mehta, Joint Director, Manisha, Personnel Officer and J.R. Padha, Chief Education Officer, Directorate of School Education, Jammu, Mamta Saikia, CEO, Bharti Airtel Foundation, Sameer Shah, Head, Program Operations and Anil Bhat, Regional Head of the Foundation participated.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Director, Directorate of School Education, Jammu said, Bharti Airtel Foundation is effectively enhancing life skills among students by partnering with government schools in Jammu. This joint effort, ‘Professional Development Initiative for Teachers’, marks a new direction, where we will work closely with the Foundation to enhance and strengthen the capabilities of teachers.
