The country’s major oil marketing companies (OMCs) like Indian Oil (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) have released the latest rates of LPG gas cylinders for October 13, 2026. During the festive season, from the kitchen budget of common consumers to hotel and restaurant businessmen, their eyes are fixed on the prices of gas cylinders. According to the data released by government oil companies, the prices of 14.2 kg LPG cylinder for domestic use have remained stable, which has provided direct relief to common families. At the same time, the new prices are applicable after the revision in the rates of 19 kg commercial gas cylinder at the beginning of this month. LPG rates in India are determined based on the international crude oil and gas import price, position of the rupee against the dollar and local taxes (VAT/transport duty).
The prices of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder, used for cooking gas, has been kept stable in metros. A 14.2 kg domestic cylinder is available at ₹942.00 in the national capital New Delhi. In the country’s financial capital Mumbai, the price of domestic cylinder has been recorded at around ₹ 941.50. In Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, consumers have to pay ₹ 968.00 for domestic cylinder. Whereas in Chennai, the major metropolis of South India, the price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder remains around ₹ 958.50. Due to the absence of any new increase in the prices of domestic cylinders, there has been no additional burden on the household budget of the common man during the festive season of Navratri and the upcoming Dussehra-Diwali.
In Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow and surrounding districts, there is a slight difference in prices compared to metros due to local VAT and logistics transportation expenses. The retail price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder in Lucknow remains stable at ₹979.50. The price of domestic cylinder in Kanpur is ₹ 957.00, whereas in Noida and Ghaziabad, due to their proximity to Delhi, it is available for around ₹ 939.50. The price of domestic gas cylinder in Prayagraj (Allahabad) is at ₹ 994.50 and in Varanasi at ₹ 1,005.50. In most of the districts of the state, consumers have got relief as the prices of domestic gas have remained stable for the last few months.
A 19 kg commercial cylinder is very important for businessmen running hotels, dhabas, catering and restaurants. In the beginning of October, oil companies had increased the prices of commercial cylinders from ₹ 62.50 to ₹ 70 per cylinder. A 19 kg commercial gas cylinder is available for ₹ 2,810.00 in New Delhi. The price of commercial cylinder in Kolkata has increased to ₹ 2,954.00. Commercial gas cylinder is being sold around ₹2,762.00 in Mumbai and around ₹2,971.50 in Chennai. The price of commercial LPG cylinder in Lucknow has been recorded at ₹2,932.50. The direct impact of commercial gas becoming expensive is visible on the cost of eating out, sweets and catering services.
Poor families registered under the Central Government’s ambitious Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) continue to benefit from direct subsidy on LPG cylinders. Targeted subsidy of ₹ 300 per cylinder is transferred directly to the eligible beneficiaries of Ujjwala Scheme by the Central Government in their bank accounts through DBT. Thus, if a cylinder costs ₹942 for a typical domestic consumer in Delhi, it effectively costs only ₹642 for the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme after deducting the subsidy. This subsidy is provided to Ujjwala families for up to 12 refills in a financial year, so that women from rural and economically weaker sections continue to get uninterrupted access to clean fuel.
