Char Dham Yatra : Uttarakhand's world famous Char Dham Yatra 2024 has started on a strong note. Devotees are arriving from all over the country. This time, last year's record has been broken due to the large number of pilgrims coming to Yamunotri Dham and Gangotri Dham. The temple committee has also decided to keep the temple open till late night in view of the crowd of devotees. At the same time, the police are also sweating to control the crowd. Due to this, the police has appealed to the people not to come to Yamunotri.

Apart from this, a huge crowd of devotees is also being seen on Ganga Saptami 2024. As the crowd is increasing, the police have also become alert and are continuously making every possible effort for security arrangements and at some places the police are even sweating to control the crowd. This time the number of devotees in Chardham Yatra has broken last year's record. Yamunotri Dham Ghodapur, a walking route about six kilometers away, has also created a record of devotees.
How many devotees came to Yamunotri?
On May 28, 2023, the maximum number of 12045 devotees visited Yamunotri Dham, breaking all the records of previous years. However, this year 12148 devotees created a new record by visiting Yamunotri. At present, there is a trend to control the crowd of devotees in Yamunotri. To ensure that the devotees do not face any inconvenience, the administration has started barrier and gate system. On the other hand, Yamunotri devotees are moving towards Gangotri Dham and there is a huge crowd there too. A record number of devotees have visited Gangotri in two days.
Huge crowd on Ganga Saptami, police left sweating
After Yamunotri, on 29 May 2023, a record 13670 devotees reached Gangotri in a single day, whereas this year this figure has reached 18973. This means that the devotees who gathered in large numbers have broken all the records of previous years. The largest crowd of devotees on Ganga Saptami is seen in Tehri and Uttarkashi districts, which the administration and police struggle to control.
Police has appealed to the people not to come to Yamunotri for the time being.
In Uttarakhand, on the day of Akshaya Tritiya i.e. Akhtriya, the doors of Yamunotri Dham and Kedarnath Dham were also opened. After which thousands of devotees are reaching here. In such a situation, the concern of the administration has increased because due to the arrival of more devotees than the capacity, the danger to the lives of the people has increased. At this time there is a huge crowd of devotees in Yamunotri. Meanwhile, the police has appealed to the people not to come to Yamunotri. Let us tell you that due to the crowd of devotees gathering for darshan at Yamunotri Dham, there is a danger of accidents on the very narrow walking path of about five to six kilometers.
As soon as the gate system was introduced in Yamunotri, all the traffic was diverted towards Gangotri route.
District Officer Dr. Meharban Singh Bisht said that after the gate system was started in Yamunotri Dham, all the traffic has been diverted towards Gangotri route. Due to this, there has been traffic jam on the roads and many buses have got stuck. Due to huge crowd at Gangotri, devotees are allowed to have darshan till late night. Officers and employees have also been deployed on the yatra route. Apart from this, orders have also been given to provide food, water and medical facilities to the devotees. At present there is a huge crowd in both the camps.
