The last rites of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will be performed with state honors at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi on Saturday, 28 December 2024 at 11:45 am. The Union Home Ministry shared this information on Friday. Dr. Singh died on Thursday night at AIIMS Hospital in New Delhi at the age of 92.

The government has decided to organize his funeral with state honours. The Defense Ministry has confirmed to make all necessary arrangements to conduct his last rites with full military honours.

State honors and funeral preparations

Formal protocol will be followed by the government for the last rites of Dr. Manmohan Singh.

    • As per tradition, Dr Singh’s mortal remains will be draped in the national flag (tricolour).

    • A 21-gun salute will be given as a mark of respect.
  3. Presence of veteran leaders,
    • The President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Lok Sabha Speaker, Defense Minister, and Cabinet Secretary and other top leaders will pay floral tributes at Nigambodh Ghat.
  4. National mourning,
    • Seven days of national mourning has been declared on his death.
    • During this period, the national flag will remain at half mast across the country.
    • There will be no public functions or government celebrations during the mourning period.

Last darshan of Dr. Manmohan Singh’s mortal remains

The mortal remains of the former Prime Minister were kept at his residence at 3, Motilal Nehru Road for public viewing on Friday.
