Landslide on KK railway route washed away tracks

Raipur, 29 July (HS). With the beginning of Sawan, rain continues in almost all the districts of the state. Many rivers and streams are in spate, while flood situation persists in some places. The Meteorological Department is constantly issuing warnings about rain in Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued in 17 districts where heavy rain may occur. Due to landslides, the tracks on the KK railway route have been washed away. Rain has also had a bad effect on rail traffic.

Landslides have occurred on the railway lines of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh due to rain. The KK railway line connecting the three states has been destroyed due to rain. Due to landslides, the tracks on the KK railway line have been washed away. Regarding the KK railway line, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Sandeep Kumar has said that a landslide has occurred between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh on the KK railway line. This landslide has been happening continuously for the last 2 days between Tyada Railway Station and Chimdipalli Station. Rocks have fallen from the mountains and come on the tracks. Due to which, East Coast Railway has issued an order taking precautions. Due to this, till July 31, the passenger train will reach Bastar via Raigarha. Due to the bursting of Kirandul Dam, the rail service in Bastar has been badly affected. It has been decided to run passenger trains till Dantewada. During this time, trains will not run till Kirandul. When the situation in Kirandul becomes normal, then the rail service will be restored here.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has again predicted heavy rains in many districts today. Today, a yellow alert has been issued in 17 districts of the state. Where heavy rains are possible. In the next two days also, there are chances of heavy rains in one or two districts of Surguja and Bastar divisions. Due to continuous rains, the water level in the rivers, dams and ponds of Chhattisgarh has increased. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rains.

In Chhattisgarh, an average rainfall of 541.4 mm has been recorded in the state since June 1, 2024. According to the rainfall recorded in various districts of the state from June 01, 2024 till today morning 28 July, the highest average rainfall of 1304.5 mm has been recorded in Bijapur district and the lowest average rainfall of 201.3 mm has been recorded in Surguja district.
