The Mountain Collapsed: Monsoon rains are causing a disaster in Uttarakhand. The road has been blocked due to landslide from a hill near Patalganga on the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway. Pilgrims faced problems due to large stones falling from the mountain. On Tuesday also, a landslide occurred near Joshimath on the Badrinath Highway. Due to the landslide, devotees going to visit Badrinath Dham and those returning back got stuck.
However, it is a matter of relief that there were no casualties due to the landslide. A high hill suddenly collapsed near Patalganga on the Badrinath Highway at 12:40 pm on Wednesday. A part of the mountain broke and large boulders, stones and debris fell on the road.
The landslide has caused a lot of damage to the highway. The collapse of the mountain created a cloud of dust which frightened the onlookers. It is a matter of relief that not a single vehicle or passenger came under the grip of the landslide. Due to clear weather for the last two days, heavy landslides are taking place in Joshimath. The District Disaster Management Officer said that the work of removing boulders and stones lying on the highway near Patalganga and Joshimath is going on.

Mountains are breaking after the rains for the last few days. On one hand, the Badrinath Highway has been closed for the last 40 hours due to landslides near Jogidhara, which has increased the difficulties of the pilgrims. The Badrinath National Highway has also been closed due to heavy debris near Patalganga. An open tunnel has also been built by the All Weather Road Project where the land has sunk near Patalganga.
