Landslide again occurred at Charlton Lodge in Nainital, bridge washed away in Mohan of Ramnagar

Nainital, 6 July (HS). The continuous rain for the last three days has started showing its effect on the fragile Nainital city. A landslide has occurred again on Saturday in the Charlton Lodge area of the city and this area has become the 'sore spot of the city' within the densely populated area. After receiving information about the landslide here, the SDRF reached the spot and took 10 local families to safe places amid heavy rain.

It is noteworthy that on 23rd September last year, a two-storey building collapsed due to a landslide and this matter was much talked about. Despite this, the administration did not do any corrective work in the last one year.

The landslide occurred in the Charlton Lodge area on Saturday

Only here, 18 families who were evacuated from the area then and returned later were instructed to leave their homes and go to safety two days ago and black plastic sheets were put up to prevent the leakage of rainwater in the area, which failed today and a landslide occurred in the area again. This has also blown away the sheets. After this, the residents of the area have become fearful once again in view of the possibility of landslides increasing due to the continuous rain.

Now a similar case has come to light from Ramnagar in Uttarakhand. In this episode, the bridge built on Panyali source near Mohan on the way from Ramnagar to Ranikhet in Nainital district broke and washed away due to the strong flow of water. Due to the collapse of the bridge, vehicles going from Ramnagar to Ranikhet also got stuck on both sides and the movement of vehicles has come to a halt.
