Lalu Prasad Yadav has made a political comeback in his old style in the Patna rally. When Lalu Prasad Yadav, famous for his sharp and sarcastic speeches, raised questions on the Modi family, the entire BJP was shaken.
BJP started Modi Parivar campaign in defense of Modi. But the question is whether the question raised by Lalu Prasad Yadav is completely unnecessary?
In the Patna rally, Lalu Yadav also questioned Modi's decision of not shaving his head on the death of his mother and said that Modi is not even a Hindu.
How seriously BJP has taken Lalu's issue can be gauged from the fact that BJP immediately raised the slogan of Modi family in the entire country. This time, with the help of AI, Modi's speech will be available on social media in the language of that state to connect Modi with every state. Along with this, social media accounts of Narendra Modi have been created in different languages, where information will be given in the same language.
Even before the announcement of elections, Lalu Prasad Yadav has given a big weapon to Narendra Modi by raising the issue of family. Now he will use this weapon against the entire opposition and will take the entire campaign in the direction that the entire country is Modi's family. Every citizen of a country is a part of its family. Nirmala Sitharaman, who was present in Patna on March 5, had also indicated this.
But it is not that the question raised by Lalu Prasad Yadav will have any impact. The personal lives of top politicians in India are always a subject of public debate. Then why is the personal life of the Prime Minister, Chief Minister or any other politician holding such an important position no longer his personal life? His public image is built on his personal life.
No one has the courage to ask a direct question to Modi, but a journalist directly asked Atal Bihari Vajpayee whether he was celibate. On this, Atal Bihari Vajpayee said that he is unmarried but not celibate. Similarly, in another TV program, when a famous journalist of that time asked him that Atal ji should say something about the love affair of his personal life. Then once again Atal ji escaped by saying that personal life should not be discussed on public platform.
Atal ji answers such deadly questions with a smile but such questions do not come before Modi and even if they come, they raise political counter-questions for him. Remember the 2014 elections. At that time, there was a lot of discussion about Modi's wife Smt. Yashodaben. But neither then nor now did Modi ever let this question reach him. He remained silent on this question and perhaps this silence is his last answer.
It is true that Modi has a huge army of personal fans who consider him a member of their family. Our religious scriptures also say Udarcharitanam tu Vasudhaiva Kutumkam. That is, for people with generous character, the whole earth is their family. But this family does not mean that your biological family has no meaning. Although the Indian Constitution does not recognize the existence of the family and instead recognizes only the individual, this does not mean that India has moved on from the family system.
Family system is the basis of Indian social structure. A family of individuals, a clan of families, a group of clans, a caste and a group of castes together constitute the Indian society. If only the biological family is removed from the social structure of India, the entire Indian social structure will collapse. Therefore, the Modi family which Lalu has questioned cannot be destroyed merely by political rhetoric. This will definitely raise a question in the minds of those who support Modi or not, why Modi did not shave his head even after his mother's death.
When Narendra Modi himself attacks the family system of Indian politics, he means dynastic politics. This means that power should not be limited to one family like Lalu Yadav's family. No one can disagree with Modi's statement that monarchy cannot be imposed in a democracy. But when sons and daughters of leaders in their own party get tickets, they are not able to defend them properly.
Even in the last session of Parliament, he had talked about this nepotism but he could not properly defend the question as to why the sons of leaders in his party are given tickets. After this he said that he is not in favor of sidelining talented leaders just because they are from the leader's family. This argument is similar to the one given by late Bal Thackeray in his last Dussehra rally when he had declared Uddhav's son Aditya Thackeray as his successor.
Be it Bal Thackeray or Narendra Modi, who criticized the nepotism of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty throughout his life. All they mean is that my party's nepotism is good and the other's is bad.
Now the question is whether the democratic systems that abolished monarchy will eventually turn into dynastic monarchies or will new people continue to get a place in politics? Time will tell what will happen, but it is certain that sooner or later the leaders will have to face the family into which they are born. Even if he does everything for them like Lalu, he gets infamous and if he doesn't do anything like Modi, questions are raised. This is the fundamental difference between Lalu's patriarchy and Modi's patriarchy.
