Lalchand Rajput appointed head coach of UAE men's team

Former India cricketer Lalchand Rajput has been appointed as the new head coach of the UAE men's team for three years. Rajput played two Tests and four ODIs for India from 1985 to 1987. He will replace Pakistan's interim coach Mudassar Nazar. Rajput, 62, took up the role of director with the Dhoni-led Indian team that won the inaugural Men's T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007. Apart from this, he was also the head coach of Mumbai Indians in the first season of IPL in 2008. Rajput coached Afghanistan in 2016–17 and during this time the team achieved Test playing status. Rajput also served as the head coach of the Zimbabwe men's team from 2018 to 2022. UEA has established itself as a strong collaborative team in recent years. Rajput said that I am looking forward to playing an exciting new role and I would like to thank the UAE Cricket Board for showing confidence in me. The current team is excellent and can achieve many successes in the near future.
