Lakhs of devotees took a dip on Mahashivratri, the last bath of Magh Mela

Prayagraj, 08 March (HS). On the occasion of Mahashivratri festival, the last bath of Magh Mela, there was a huge crowd of devotees taking bath at the ghats of Sangam on Friday. State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has heartily congratulated all the saints, saints, Kalpavasis and devotees who came to take a dip of faith in Tirtharaj Prayag. It is said, “May Lord Bholenath and Mother Ganga bless everyone, this is our prayer.”

According to the fair administration, around 4 lakh devotees took bath till 8 am and 9 lakh 70 thousand devotees attained virtue by 6 pm. After lakhs of Shiva devotees took bath in Triveni located on the banks of Sangam, crowds gathered in Shiva temples to worship Lord Shiva. Tight security arrangements were made in the temples for darshan.

All the Shiva temples of the district resonated with the chanting of Om Namah Shivay. The consecration and worship of Lord Shankar continued from morning to evening in the Shiva temples. It is believed that by observing a fast with true heart on Mahashivratri, taking a dip in the Sangam and praising Shiva, one gets the desired results. In Shiva temples, devotees chant Om Namah Shivay mantra while worshiping Shiva and offer milk, vine leaves, madar, datura, hemp, ashes, Kaner flowers etc. to please Shiva. Along with this, Shiva devotees also recited Shiva Chalisa, Shiva Tandav, Shiva Purana etc. During this, Shiva devotees present in large numbers started singing bhajan and kirtan in the temple. The movement of devotees continued in all the Shiva temples of the city since morning.

For the safety of the devotees thronging the ghats, NDRF rescue personnel have been deployed at all the major ghats under the supervision of Anil Kumar Pal (Deputy Commandant). NDRF teams have been deployed on Triveni for the security of devotees at various ghats like Sangam Nose, Sangam Madhya, VIP Ghat, Ram Ghat and Arailghat. Along with this, patrolling is also being done through boats in Sangam Nose. The medical team of NDRF remained deployed at VIP Ghat for first aid and assistance to the devotees. On this occasion, Manoj Kumar Sharma, Deputy Inspector General 11 NDRF appealed that all the devotees should celebrate this festival with caution and follow the instructions given by the administration.

There were long queues in major Shiva temples including Mankameshwar Temple situated on the banks of Yamuna, Padila Mahadev of Phaphamau, Someshwar Mahadev of Arail. Devotees offered prayers at Hanumat Niketan Shiv Temple located in Civil Lines. People stood in line for hours to worship Bhole Nath. Along with the police force, women police personnel were also deployed at the temples. On Friday, on the occasion of Mahashivratri, the Shiva temple in Sangamnagar was decorated for the Jalabhishek and darshan-worship of Devadhidev.

Mahant Shridharanand Brahmachari of Mankameshwar Mahadev Temple said that Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga will make the Mahashivratri festival special this time. Under the planetary conjunction, there is a conjunction of Sun with Saturn and Moon with Mars. The union of Mercury and Venus will create a very auspicious yoga. Astrologers say that on this Mahashivratri, worshiping Lord Shiva in Trigrahi Yoga will bring happiness, prosperity and prosperity.
