Lakhimpur Kheri, 01 October (HIST). The body of a laborer was found on Tuesday in a sugarcane field near Belapahara forest area. The leopard has attacked and killed him. The forest department team has started combing. Police sent the body for post-mortem.
Divisional Forest Officer, South Kheri Forest Division, Sanjay Kumar Biswal said that information was received about an attack on a human being by a wild animal near Belapahara Beat under Mohammadi Forest Range. After this the forest personnel reached the spot. When combing was started, slippers and sickle were recovered near the spot. After this, the dead body of a young man was found in a nearby field, who was identified as Prabhu Dayal, resident of Shahpur Raja Kheri.
Assessment based on the footprints revealed that there was a possibility of a leopard here, perhaps it had attacked the young man and tried to make a bite out of it, due to which he died. The incident site is near Belapahara forest area, due to which wild animals come here many times. For security reasons, a team of forest personnel has been deployed.
He also said that combing is also being done with the help of thermal drones in the tiger affected areas Gharthania Baghel, Haraiya, Imalia, Muda Assi, Muda Jawahar, Baghmara, Pipra Rampur, Madiya Jawahar.
