Gopeshwar, August 03 (HS). Villagers of Koteda in Dewal development block of Chamoli district have started a sit-in protest in the premises of the development block office from Saturday demanding to change the alignment of the motor road connecting the village.
The road was approved in the year 2016-17 to connect Koteda village with the road. The villagers allege that Koteda village is not getting any benefit from the road from where it was said to be connected to the village. The villagers said that they have been demanding for a long time to build a road from Soban Ram Band to Kotipar via Junior High School, Primary School. On Friday, they staged a dharna at Dewal development block headquarters for this demand and sent a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Block Development Officer. From Saturday, the villagers have started a dharna for their one-point demand.
Former Pradhan Khadak Ram, Jagdish Ram say that their agitation will continue until their demands are met. Those who protested included Manoj Ram, Bhavani, Neelam, Jasoda, Hira, Sabuli, Joomli, Jaswant Ram, Ramesh, Girish, Tara, Ashok Ram, Suresh, Pratap, Kundan Singh, Harish Arya and other villagers.
