Protests are continuing over the rape and murder of a female doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital last month. On Wednesday, the victim's family has made a big claim. The female doctor's family alleges that the Kolkata Police tried to suppress the case by cremating the body in a hurry. They have also alleged that the Kolkata Police also tried to extort bribe money from them.
Police tried to suppress the matter: Family
According to PTI, the Kolkata rape-murder victim's family has claimed that the Kolkata Police tried to hush up the case from the very beginning. The family was not allowed to see the body. They had to wait at the police station while the body was taken for post-mortem. Later, when the body was handed over to the family, a senior police officer offered them money. The family immediately rejected it.
Family members became part of the protest
The victim's parents joined the protest along with junior doctors at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday night and demanded justice for their daughter. Earlier on Tuesday, a delegation of junior doctors in Kolkata presented a handmade prosthetic spine to the city's police commissioner Vineet Goyal. The doctors demanded his resignation over alleged lapses in the entire case. In this way, they have given a message to the police to develop a spine.
