Kolkata doctor rape and murder case: The nationwide protest of doctors continues over the rape-murder case of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. After the continuous protest of doctors, the Union Home Ministry has now become alert. In view of the protest by doctors, nursing staff and others, the ministry has asked the police of all the states to report the situation every two hours. In a message to the state police forces, the Home Ministry said that the law and order situation in all the states should be constantly monitored in view of the protest.

The ministry said that continuous two-hourly reports on the law and order situation should be sent to the ministry's New Delhi situation control room through fax/email/WhatsApp from 4 pm on Saturday. According to media reports, the states have started sending reports from August 16. A senior official said, it will be ensured that reports related to important issues are submitted on time. He said that many shortcomings have been seen in the Kolkata rape case. Therefore, there is a need to take immediate action in such important cases.

Let us tell you that on August 9, the body of a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor was found half-naked in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. According to the postmortem report, the doctor was raped and brutally murdered. The incident exposed several serious flaws and lack of support from the concerned authorities, after which doctors started protesting to demand justice.

The doctors became more angry as there was no progress in the investigation of the Kolkata Police in this case. Taking cognizance of the ongoing protests and demands, the Calcutta High Court handed over the case to the CBI.
