While solving the case, CBI has made the accused Sanjay Roy, who has already been arrested in this case, the main accused of murder and rape. Regarding gang rape, CBI sources say that the investigation is still going on.

Accused Sanjay Roy was working as a civilian volunteer in the local police. In its charge sheet, CBI has said about accused Sanjay Roy that he allegedly raped the victim on August 9 when she slept in the seminar room of the hospital during the break. Also, in the CCTV footage, Sanjay Roy is seen entering the seminar room at 4.03 am on August 9. Kolkata Police also found Bluetooth headphones of the accused at the spot.
Demonstrations took place across the country
There were demonstrations across the country regarding the Kolkata rape case and demands were made for respect and justice for women. Junior doctors in Kolkata have also started a fast unto death from Saturday evening to get justice for the rape victim. Junior doctors have accused the Mamata government of West Bengal of indifference towards their demands.

Junior doctors protested at Dori crossing in Dharmatala, Kolkata on Friday before starting their fast unto death. In this protest, junior doctors had given 24 hours time to the state government to fulfill their demands, but when their demands were not met, the doctors started a fast unto death.
Action against former college principal Sandeep Ghosh
In this case, former college principal Sandeep Ghosh was also interrogated by the CBI and several tests were conducted on him, after which the ED also took strict action against him. However, earlier in this case on September 25, CBI had claimed that the evidence was changed in the police station and fake records were made.
