SBI New CEO: The country's largest public sector bank, State Bank of India (SBI), may soon get a new chairman. The Central Government's Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) has recommended the name of the bank's current managing director Challa Srinivasulu Setty as the new chairman. According to a CNBC TV-18 report, FSIB has suggested the name of FSIB's Srinivasulu Setty. State Bank's current chairman Dinesh Khara is going to retire on August 28. In such a situation, the process of appointing the new chairman of the bank has started.
It is worth noting that the Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) is responsible for the appointment of senior officials of all public sector banks in the country. Before the expiry of the term of the current SBI Chairman Dinesh Kumar Khara, FSIB has selected the name of Challa Srinivasulu Setty to be appointed as the new chairman.
Who is Challa Srinivasulu Shetty?
Challa Srinivasulu Setty is currently serving as the Managing Director (MD) of SBI. He has been a part of SBI for more than 36 years. He has good experience in retail and digital banking as well as recovery of bad loans. He has been responsible for the recovery of bad loans of the bank for a long time and stressed asset management abroad. In such a situation, after becoming the chairman of SBI, he can mainly focus on the recovery of the bad loans of the bank.
Dinesh Khara's tenure ends in August
The term of the current Chairman of State Bank of India, Dinesh Kumar Khara, was to end on August 28, 2024. According to media reports, the names of Ashwini Kumar Tiwari and Vinay M Tonsi are also being considered in the race for SBI Chairman. The bank's fourth managing director, Alok Kumar Chaudhary, is going to retire in June 2024.
