Fake police turned fraudster

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) was looting people by posing as fake customs officers or policemen.

According to CBIC, many such reports have come to light in recent times, where online fraudsters message or call the victim posing as a custom officer or policeman and say that a parcel has arrived in their name. Drugs and narcotics were found from them. Now police action is going to start against them. If you want to avoid this, send us money. Many people get scared after hearing such things and have lost lakhs of rupees by becoming victims of parcel fraud.

If you receive a fake call, immediately inform the cyber cell

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs wrote on the social media platform X that people should report such fake calls to law enforcement agencies. Such criminals are taking advantage of people by intimidating them. They put pressure on the victims and ask them to transfer large amounts online. Along with drugs, people have also been cheated in the name of illegal gold and silver. These people also send fake documents in the name of CBI and RBI to the victims so that they can trust them. CBIC clarified that such calls are never made on their behalf.

Engineer duped of Rs. 27.9 lakh

The victim of this parcel scam was an IT engineer working in Pune. Online fraudsters duped him of Rs. 27.9 lakhs. Scammers claiming to be from the Cyber ​​Crisis Cell of Mumbai Police threatened the IT engineer that the parcel that came to Mumbai from Taiwan contained drugs. As soon as the parcel arrived in his name, he was threatened with arrest. So, to escape from the scared engineer, these scammers demanded Rs. 27.9 lakhs to be sent.
