News India Live, Digital Desk: Monthly Shivratri that comes every month is a special day for the devotees of Lord Shiva. This day is dedicated to the worship of Mahadev and Mother Parvati. It is believed that by observing fast and worshiping on this day with full devotion and faith, Lord Bholenath fulfills all the wishes of his devotees. This festival is falling in the month of Margashirsha in November 2025, which makes it even more special. Margashirsha Monthly Shivratri 2025: Date and auspicious time of worship

According to the Hindu calendar, the Chaturdashi tithi of Krishna Paksha of Margashirsha month will start from 07:12 am on Tuesday, 18 November 2025. This date will end the next day, i.e. 19 November 2025, Wednesday at 09:43 am. There is a tradition of worshiping Shivratri at night, especially during Nishita period, hence this fast will be observed on Tuesday, 18th November only.

  • Time of worship during Nishita period: From 11:40 pm to 12:33 am on 18th November.

This time’s monthly Shivratri is also special because on this day a very auspicious combination of Swati Nakshatra and Ayushman Yoga is taking place. In astrology, Ayushman Yoga is considered very good for worship and auspicious works. Worship done in this yoga brings blessings of good health and long life.

Simple worship method of Monthly Shivratri

You can worship Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati at home in a very easy way:

  1. Resolution of fasting: Wake up early in the morning, take bath and wear clean clothes. After this, take a pledge to fast with some water in your hand.
  2. Abhishekam of Shivalinga: Go to the home temple or a nearby Shiva temple and perform the anointment of Shivalinga. Use water, Ganga water, milk, curd, ghee, honey and sugar (Panchamrit) for Abhishek. While doing Abhishek, keep chanting the mantra “Om Namah Shivay” in your mind.
  3. Pooja material: After doing Abhishek, offer white sandalwood, Akshat (unbroken rice), Belpatra, Dhatura, Bhang, Shami leaves and white flowers on Shivalinga.
  4. Worship of Mother Parvati: Offer wedding items, red chunari and flowers to Goddess Parvati.
  5. Bhog and Aarti: Offer white sweets or kheer to Lord Shiva. After this, light a ghee lamp and perform aarti of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.
  6. Text of the story: After the puja, definitely read or listen to the fast story of monthly Shivratri.
  7. Charity: Donate something to a needy person as per your wish and ability.
