Jagannath Rath Yatra 2024
The Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath starts from Jagannath Puri on Ashadha Shukla Dwitiya and ends on Dashami Tithi. This year Jagannath Rath Yatra will start on 7th July 2024 and end on 16th July 2024.
Significance of Jagannath Rath Yatra
It is clearly stated in Skanda Purana that the person who goes to Gundicha Nagar chanting the name of Shri Jagannath in the Rath Yatra, gets freed from the bondage of rebirth. All the wishes of the person who takes part in the Rath Yatra by chanting the name of God are fulfilled. By participating in the Rath Yatra, all the problems related to children are removed.
What is the significance of Gundicha Temple?
Gundicha temple is very important during Rath Yatra. Gundicha temple is the house of Lord Jagannath's aunt. On this day, the darshan of Lord Jagannath in Gundicha temple is called 'Aadap-Darshan'. In which Mahaprasad of coconut, Malpua, Laai, Mug etc. is offered to the Lord. After this, the Lord returns to his home i.e. Jagannath temple.

Jagannath Temple is an important pilgrimage site among the four sacred pilgrimage sites. Char Dham Yatra is considered very important in Hinduism. Jagannath Rath Yatra symbolizes the visit of Lord Jagannath to Gundicha Mata Temple. Once sister Subhadra expressed her desire to see the city, Jagannathji seated her on the chariot and took her around the city.
Lord Jagannath is considered a form of Lord Vishnu and is also worshipped by the followers of Vaishnavism. Jagannath literally means “Lord of the World”, i.e., Lord of the Universe.
