Disadvantages of wrapping food in aluminium foil: When it comes to packing tiffin for kids or ourselves, most of us use aluminium foil. Its use has become common from hotels to roadside eateries. It is very convenient and helps in keeping the food fresh. According to India's famous nutrition expert Nikhil Vats, there are some disadvantages of packing food in aluminium foil that we should be aware of.
1. Harmful to health The biggest disadvantage of aluminum foil is that it can prove to be harmful to health. Aluminum is a metal and if it comes in contact with food, it can dissolve in the food. Especially with acidic and spicy food, the amount of aluminum increases, which can cause health problems.
Some research has shown that excessive consumption of aluminum can harm brain health. Excessive amounts of aluminum have been blamed for diseases like Alzheimer's. Although this has not been fully proven, experts recommend that aluminum foil should be used in limited quantities.
3. Effects on kidneys and bones
Excessive consumption of aluminium can also be harmful for the kidneys and bones. Our kidneys are not able to remove aluminium from the body, due to which it can accumulate in the body. Also, it can weaken the bones and cause problems like osteoporosis.
4. Harmful to the environment
The production and waste of aluminium foil can also be harmful to the environment. It requires a lot of energy to manufacture and the process releases greenhouse gases. Apart from this, dumping of aluminium foil is also a big problem, because it is not biodegradable.
